Important Travel Information

Important items:

  • Valid Passport;

  • The attached Parental Consent Form (Form #1), filled in and signed In Front Of A Notary Public; (Most banks will notarize documents)

  • International travel Insurance (recommended);

  • Prescription medication, if needed;

  • Euros/ International Credit Card (Spending money), for souvenirs, snacks, laundry, drinks etc...

TIP: Make a copy of your documents and have those copies somewhere you can access them in case you lose your originals. I like to use dropbox

Packing your bag:

  • Squash racquets. Bring at least two racquets in case one breaks or you break a string. We can restring racquets at all the clubs and I’m bringing additional grips and strings.

  • Squash shoes. Make sure when you buy new shoes before the trip that you run them in so they won’t hurt your feet during the trip.

  • Bring at least 5-7 t-shirts, socks and shorts for the training sessions and tournaments. There is no dress code at the tournaments or the club. There is availability to wash our clothes at the hotel for an extra cost, so we can do a load of laundry if needed.

  • Clothes you can wear after training sessions, matches or in the evening. Remember in The Netherlands and Germany we have similar temperatures as here in NY so think of that when you pack the bag. It’s recommended to bring a sweater or a light jacket in case it gets a little colder or if it rains.

  • Personal hygiene items

  • Travel adapter to charge iPad, phone etc… (Outlets are different in Europe)

TIP: I suggest to bring a racquet bag that you carry-on and check in a regular bag. Usually they will let you bring the racquet bag on the plane as hand luggage. This will be safer for your racquets and, in case the checked bag goes missing, you still have some gear until the bag shows up.

Communication:

  • I will have my cell phone on me 24/7 during the trip so feel free to contact me anytime via phone, email or text.

  • As soon as we check into the hotel I will send you the room numbers so you can contact the hotel if needed.

  • The Hotel and squash clubs have WIFI accessibility so you can text and Skype your kids. The hotel charges an extra fee for this.

  • You can see you child playing the Pioneer Junior Squash Cup in Cologne via live streaming of the matches at: http://www.pioneercup.de/?page_id=71

  • The Pioneer Junior Squash Cup 2016 information page: http://www.pioneercup.de

  • The Dutch Junior Open 2016 information page: http://www.squash.nl/calendarevent/19250/Dutch-Junior-Open

TIP:  I recommend to contact your phone company and let them know that you child is traveling to the Netherlands and Germany so they can activate the international calling feature so it will be easier to reach them.
